Dad Pummeled An 11-Year-Old Kid For Bullying His 9-Year-Old Autistic Son

A furious father escorted his 9-year-old autistic son onto a school bus late last week and proceeded to beat up an 11-year-old kid who had allegedly been bullying the boy.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in the Bay Area suburb of Richmond, Calif., reports CBS San Francisco.
Police say the assailant, Burnis Hurd got on the bus with his son. Then, his son identified the boy who had been bullying him.
“The father grabbed the 11-year old by the hair, pulled hard and raised the child out of his seat, then shoved him on the side of the bus where the window meets the wall,” Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan told CBS San Francisco.
Police say Hurd, 44, also warned that he would kill the 11-year-old boy and also threatened some other kids on the bus for good measure.
The melee was not captured on videotape and the bus driver didn’t get involved. In fact, the bus driver never even bothered to report the incident. Instead, the 11-year-old kid informed the principal at Wilson Elementary School in Richmond, where both children are enrolled in a special education program.
The alleged bully ended up with a cheek abrasion and a gashed earlobe.
Hurd ended up in jail. He has been charged with child abuse and bodily injury to a child. As on Monday, he remained in jail pending a $50,000 bond.
The 11-year-old boy’s aunt and guardian, Shanika Moses, said she wants the mad dad “prosecuted to the fullest,” according to CBS.
Hurd might have fared infinitesimally better several hours down the road in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson City, where the city council narrowly rejected an ordinance that would have made bullying by children as young as 5-years-old a crime punishable by misdemeanor charges and fines of $100
The ordinance, which went down by a single vote, would have prohibited everyone over the age of five from making another person feel “terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed or molested.”

bully won't be messing with the kid again.

I have no problem with this.
I would have probably done the same.
I would have probably done the same.

While I'm inclined to disapprove of the father's methods they will probably produce better results than anything the system in place would have.

Better ways to go about it than beating up an 11 year old kid.
Even if this kid deserved it.
Even if this kid deserved it.

She would have taught her bastard, retard of a child to act right. Maybe if she would have beat his arse every once in a while he wouldn't be such a dickhead to other kids.

No video. No care.

This is the only way to stop bullying instead of pussy footing around it with everyone love everyone laws.

Bad parenting all around. Dad should not have ever put his hands on someone else's 11 year old. Mother of said child should have taught her child better and disciplined him.

So basically, the dad bullied the bully?

Yeah, That isn't how an adult is supposed to handle that situation. The father isn't any more mature than an 11-year-old.
Crazy that anyone even thinks that this is a good idea.

Pummel means to punch repeatedly.

good for the dad if it was ACTUAL bullying.
I would like to know what the "bullying" was.... very good chance they were just picking on him lite all little kids pick on each other. And if that is the case this dad should stay behind bars.

Maybe I'm reading too much in to this, but I think this may say a lot about the 11 year old. He must be an evil little asshold for the bus driver to not GAF to the point of not even reporting a grown man beating his arse. I'm guessing the bus driver has wanted to beat his arse for a while and was glad the man did

It probably happened too fast for terrible non-landscape filming and any "WORLDSTAR"S to be thrown around. Which is probably for the best.

Good for the dad. Bullying is bad enough, but to bully a child with any disabilities is beyond deplorable. Sounds to me that this "shanika" character needs her teeth kicked in, too.

My first question is: why is the 11 year old in the special ed program? If he has mental disabilities too then I'm a lot less in favor of the dad whipping his arse.

I don't believe it. I mean....have you ever tried to grab an 11 yr old black kid by the hair? Its damn near impossible since they keep it so short!
