I watched the replay earlier. Looked like laird threw him out. Also Laird was safe when they threw behind him at first.

That 3rd string espn 3 crew botched the replay on Laird being thrown behind. They were showing horrible angle replays when you hear the crowd cheer for an RBI single that they missed right after that play. Laird most definitely beat the ball back on his single going back to first. It looked like from one angle that Laird's hand hit the first basemen's foot which I think is why the ump botched the call.

ETA: I think Laird's throw to first was late and the dude was safe on that play.
