I say both, depending on the setting. I in general don't reference race that much, i mean, why would you?
Most of my black friends prefer the term black.

I agree with this. Most Black folks that I know say "Black" and it's very rare that I hear a Black person say "African-American".

Black. I have never, nor will I ever say African America. Unless of course, he/she has an African and American passport.
