Me, no but I did step on some seaweed on the beach in Destin once and had a catfish barb go into my foot. So I can see who it would suck...

I kinda did back in the AOL days. Met some chick on there and she had sent me pics of her cousin or some shite like that. She was cool, and we hung out, but I was taken aback when it wasn't her in the pic(s). To be fair, she did tell me before we met up though.
Ahh, the good, old AOL chatroom days.

I have a question.
Why do people take things that are popular then turn them into verbs?
The term catfish in the movie came from what the husband of the liar said, and it was a weird off-handed quote. I bet you/others don't even know the quote.
So why use it?
Is it just easier to say that than the act of the people who make up and act under a false persona?

catfish has become a pretty well used term for the situation. Words are created all the time. Just get with the program.
I've never known anyone who got catfished.

I remember the yahoo chat rooms. Hooked up a time or two. Wouldn't know where to do that anymore.
Do you?

A man pretending to be a girl is generally going to have an unhappy ending.

I understand that, but there's 2 camps now:
1) people who know what catfish means, but don't know where it comes from.
2) people who don't know what it means.
I watched the film years before it got popular. I guess I'm just being hipster about it.
