If your car is registered in East Baton Rouge Parish you are not eligible for this upgrade. fricking sucks, I tried last month. Paid my $18 and I am good to next April.

I know. I hate cops as much as the next guy but I don't feel sorry for someone who gets an inspection sticker ticket. Takes 5 minutes and like 17 dollars
Yea just $17 if your car is running fine. My car in highschool was 15 years old, the rear differential would scream, the windows wouldn't roll down, AC didn't work, and every once in a while an O2 sensor would go out. Now try getting an inspection sticker with all those problems. I had to fork up over $500 to get a ton of shite fixed on my car in highschool just so I could get a damn inspection sticker, when none of the shite wrong with my car was hurting a damn soul except me. Thats the problem with it. The people that don't have them aren't usually because they don't want to fork over the $17 for a sticker, but because they can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on the repairs you have to get in order to get an inspection sticker.

I would also agree with the poster that said that insurance coverage checkpoints would be far more useful. Sometimes, the worst, most aggressive drivers on the roads are people that don't seem like they'd have insurance. THAT is a far bigger problem.

I agree.
I have aftermarket headers on my car with a few of the o2 sensors unplugged. I can't get an inspection sticker because of this code, even though my car is in better condition than 90% of the vehicles driving around here.

What are they building across from Woodlawn baptist?

Why do people always assume that those who complain about these checkpoints are driving around with expired inspection stickers?
My sticker is up to date. The checkpoint can't do anything to me, but I can't stand seeing law enforcement resources being spent harassing citizens just going about their business, trying to get to work, school, pick up the kids from baseball, etc.
If it's not inspection stickers, it's writing tickets for rolling stops and bullshite like that.
I mean, as long as you're going to be out there doing traffic, run radar or catch people blowing through red lights... SOMETHING resembling actual, needed traffic law enforcement.
And let's not forget... we don't run these inspection sticker checkpoints in the hood. That won't work. We run them around LSU and where the white people live. Because it's safe, the people are compliant and they will pay their fine. That tells you all you need to know about why they are doing what they are doing.
Public safety, my arse.

Then there would be a thread on here bitching about that.

Better question for the OT. How will the City of St. George police punish these expired break tag violators?

brake tags are just a money grab by the state.
As red a state as LA is, you'd think they could lose stupid things like that.

Here is a novel idea: Follow the law and you have nothing to worry about.
I used to have this same opinion for the checkpoints, but after actually thinking about it for a while I have turned a 180.
While I think pulling over and ticketing for one is completely legitimate, I cannot get behind redirecting traffic/people to accomplish this. Trust me, you will get chased down and pulled over if you proceed through the checkpoint at the posted speedlimit.
People who have no problem with checkpoints of any kind have to admit to be willing to let police randomly stop and submit to whatever inspections they like (ie inspection sticker, alcohol, drug test, vision, etc).
I mean, if you arent breaking the law what is the issue with it?
3 cars, all legal with inspection stickers up to date.
Posted on 5/29/14 at 2:04 pm to Walt OReilly
Yeah, just get it on one of your oil changes. My mechanic checks all that and let's me know before anything is expired or needs work.

You would think but look at the parking nazi's in NOLA. I've been getting parking tickets downtown on Sundays these last few months.

Something like this happened to me two years ago. I had to wait on a part (clock spring was on national backorder)from the dealer for 4 months and during this time my sticker expired. Got the part installed and drove straight to the place to get sticker and they failed me because the computer threw a code saying the battery had been disconnected. I had to go back in two days after so many miles.
