re: How can you justify saying Magic>Lebron?

It's a tired argument. The old guard of the MJ/magic/bird era have dug their heels in, and no player will ever surpass their collective nostalgia. Right now, they use the rings argument bc it's in their favor. If they need to in the future, they will say rings don't matter bc it no longer supports their argument. It's always the same thing, and it's played out.
And the difference between this and the LeBron crowd who discounts titles because it's not in their favor is what?

Actually, the argument for the MJ/Magic/Bird era is evaporating. 3 Weeks from now LeBron may have a 3rd ring at the age of 29. Bird only won 3. MJ won 6 but won 40 of them after he turned 30. Magic won 5 rings....all before turning 29. But do you really want to compare the 1978-79 Lakers that won 47 games, advanced to the WC Semi-finals and returned a roster with Kareem, Michael Cooper, Jamaal Wilkes and Norm Nixon to the roster of 2002-2003 Cleveland Cavaliers whose 17 wins was the fewest in the NBA. FWIW, the 79-80 Lakers won 13 more games in Magic's rookie season (79-80) while Cleveland won 18 more in LeBron's rookie season. The Lakers regressed from 60 wins in Magic;s rookie season to 54 in '80-81, to 57 in '81-82, 58 in '82-83 and 54 in '83-84 while Lebron led Cleveland from 17 wins prior to his arrival to continual improvement of 35 wins in '03-04, 42 wins in '04-05, 50 wins in '05-06 and '05-07. Comparing Magic's rings to LeBrons certainly isn't fair.

Maybe Ray Allen saves the Participation King's arse again?
Maybe he will participate again in the Finals. Maybe he will disappear when it matters most again?
Doesn't matter. LeBron - all the talent in the world - but no "winning time" mentality - a weak noodled brain.
Such a waste. Combine Magic and Bird's smarts and drive with LeBron...LeBron could have been amazing.
He has disappointed. He could have been otherwordly.
Instead - he's just another great player.
LBJ defenders don't get it. Because they don't have that mentality either. They feel a kinship with LBJ - the soft generation.
Softy, softs. All touchy and feely and rat out on others for doing bad things.
Everyone gets a gold medal just for competing. A gold star because you went to the bathroom. Participation glory.
That's your generations greatest achievement. You Participated in this country and life...Congratulations.
Now move along.

Wow!!! You must be seeking election as President of the LeBron haters club. Good thing that having a fully functioning brain isn't a pre-requisite for that position.

Man, go look at what I posted on page 9. This is the weakest argument ever.

How many times are you going to change your argument?
This is what you wrote:
Now you come with this:
You were proven wrong about that ridiculous statement multiple times now, so you come back with a different statement.
This is what you wrote:

No player PERIOD in the history of the NBA
Now you come with this:

FACT - This thread is about the comparison between LeBron James and Magic Johnson
You were proven wrong about that ridiculous statement multiple times now, so you come back with a different statement.

As many times as other posters in the thread do.

Tell me what the title of this thread is and explain to me how my statement is ridiculous.

I can't type any s l o w e r, but here's your full statement:
quote:
No player PERIOD in the history of the NBA has done what he has on the defensive side of the ball more less any great offensive player in the history of the game.
You didn't say Magic, you said "No player PERIOD..." I told you you were wrong and there were MVP and DPOY players to prove that to you. Someone else named one of those players who is the best example in Jordan. You then switched back to "This is about LBJ vs Magic..."
So again, read your statement. You have changed the argument a few times.

Here we go. I'd pay serious money to watch today's superstars have to face the Bad Boy Pistons in a 7 game series.

It would likely not end well for Detroit.

magic johnson is very underrated for the place of the best NBA player ever, so it's not that difficult

Imagine what UD would do to Laimbeer in the brief seconds needed after Laimbeer gave a patended clothesline to Lebron.

The "305" choke hold......or the "take this white boy" face smack
THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR PLAYING ROUGH WITH LEBRON

I said a team comprised of today's superstars, not the Heat. You don't get to take the tough guys with you.

Today's superstars would do just fine.

Please tell me you think the Bad Boys would beat this team. Please.
CP3
Harden
Durant
Lebron
Howard
Eta- put Howard in bc he's stronger. Also, please tell me if the game got extra physical like an 80s game, that Lebron or Howard couldn't take the punishments or dish them back out. The reason you all think these guys are "bitches or pussies" is because the rules of the game today. Surprisingly enough, the NBA decided fights not be a good business model for their league. I assure you that guys like Lebron and Dwight Howard are not going to be physically intimidated or unable to withstand the beating from ANYONE on the Bad Boys
