Unless you want to watch pitchers bat. People that tout the NL rules with no DH always claim that is uses more strategy, but they couldnt be farther from the reality. Nothing screams strategy like walking the 8 hole hitter to get to the pitcher's spot with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs in the 9th. Could they make it any more anti-climatic?

Through the 70s, MLB wanted a strong commissioner in order to depress labor costs. Once that door was open and they could no longer keep them artificially low, they had no use for strong commissioners, and went the weak route.
NFL wants a strong commissioner, with every team kept in line and no team gaining an intrinsic advantage.
