One of my fraternity brothers is a Marine JAG. He went to OCS during his first year of law school then rode it out.

come on man, you've got to be aggressive, forget all of that nonsense, show yourself and make yourself available, a big part of things like that are supply and demand

Not sure why you aimed that at me, and talking to me like you know me. But I think you forget that Signal is one of the intricate parts of the puzzle in combat, which I have been to. So frick off
You bring up a great point here and it reminds me of some shite someone else was saying earlier in this thread about tank mechanics. What civilians don't realize is that when I say I served (and fought) in an Armor unit, that does not mean my battalion was nothing but tankers. We also had mechanics (like the one's I posted about using the M88 recovery vehicle), cooks, clerks, and guys like Signal here in our commo section. They were not in some cushy office sucking up A/C. They were caked with the same grime and funk that me and my fellow tankers were coated in. These guys were moving right behind us and a lot of times right beside us.

Yeah, I've been practicing a few years already. I know that if I don't at least try, I'll regret it for the rest of my life.

Have you talked to a recruiter yet, if not go talk to one. Just remember it's a source of info and not the final word, think of it as info from a used car salesman.

There is a recruiter down the street from my office. I'm going to see him this week.
Yeah, I read that only 4% of applicants get accepted or something like that.

AD vs Reserves also has a lot to do with your service and job. A pilot in the guard/reserves has the exact same training requirements as their AD counterparts. Don't paint the all of the ARC with the same brush just because that's how it is in the Navy.
The training requirements for Guard tank crews is the exact same as active duty. I served in both capacities and the tank crews in the AL Guard in the mid 90's were just as proficient as the tank crews I served on in active duty in the 80's and early 90's.

The real panty dropper in the AF is a black, red or scarlet beret.

True story - DV - I was in (attached, actually) 3-156th in the mid-90s - we went to Fort Hood for a faux NTC rotation - we had NTC O/Cs, but we were at Fort Hood against regular army, Fort Hood-based OPFOR. Anyway, our mortar platoon got the highest evaluation of any mortar platoon - EVER - by the O/C team. They asked, "How do you do that?" We replied, "Well, the platoon sergeant has been the platoon sergeant for 12 years. Some of the crews have been intact for almost 10 years." The look on their faces was priceless.

dunno, you can have guys wearing every different colored beanie in the world, but the guy who rolls up in an F-15, pops the canopy and hops out, is probably not going home alone (airshows are an absolute license to steal)

But Battlefield Airmen clean up in the pussy dept, its too easy. Even in tech school in my failed attempt the local base ho's love the ranger panties.
