You're not a dick, but that doesn't mean they won't think you are. Inconsiderate people are self absorbed and think only of themselves. I'd at least go check on my stuff every 10 minutes. People are assholes and may retaliate.

I use to do this all the time in the Dorm but I always left mine in the dryer for ages.
