My son has one scheduled for Thursday. Not really sure what to expect. Was it very painful? How fast was recovery?

Had a bone marrow biopsy. On the Top 3 pains Alatgr does not recommend.

Muscle can be anesthetized though so I would guess it won't be that bad?

If it's a needle muscle biopsy, I don't think it would be anything more than sore. They just stick a needle in the muscle and get cells that way. The other way is through an incision which I assume is more painful

He will be sore for a while, but he will be fine.

During the procedure, depending on his tolerance, he will be witnessing mild discomfort to minor pain.

No big deal in the long run, just some soreness.

I got something to deaden the area locally, then a bigger needle was used to go in and gather the sample. No real recovery time to speak of. He may notice a bit of soreness for a day or 2, but really nothing to worry about. Good luck.

Sorry, I just noticed it is an incision type. Are we talk laproscopic or scapel? Laproscopic shouldn't be that bad. Recovery would be short. I have no idea if it is scalpel.

I am sorry for the circumstances and wish you only the best of good luck in this.

My 1 1/2 year old son has one scheduled for June 13th. They are testing him for mitochondrial diseases due to a few developmental delays. He's had glasses since 9 months old and since then he's started crawling and now pulls up on walks holding on to things but isn't walking on his own yet.
