I would take that wager any day. In two years, he'll still be younger than Manning is now

He just said he wants to play into his 40's, so you think the Saints are going to let him walk?

but only as long as the Saints bring in a young guy for Brees to start grooming. You should never neglect the future.

That was kind of my point. I didnt mean for brees to be a coach long term. I meant it as us drafting a young guy, him sitting behind brees, then brees becoming our backup for a couple of years to continue to teach the young guy.

hopefully he has about 3-4 more years left in him. I think he plays until he's 40-41 and then retires.

That is never going to happen. What all star has ever been cool with backing up and training their replacement? He'd demand to be traded and then try and prove something with another team. Just like every other QB that hangs on too long.

well we have ryan griffin...

drew has earned the right to go out on his own terms, but personally i think he has one more elite season and three more good ones left.

it will hurt watching him go from golden boy to grizzled vet though

I'm just gonna be real because our fanbase is seriously delusional about Griffin...

The fact that the team signed him to the active roster to keep him from going elsewhere DOES NOT MEAN the FO thinks he is the future guy. I'm sorry. People jumped to conclusions so fast after all of that went down.

I say 41 year old brees throws for 26 Tds 12 picks and 4,177 yards. Fournette rushes 1467 yards and 14 scores. This is 2020 mind you. I'm bored.

2 more years because of his arm strength? That's dumb as hell.

Never gonna happen. Great QBs either go to a city who will overpay for a former elite QB to drum up interest in the team or they go out as starters.

Montana went to Kansas City. Favre went to New York than Minn. Peyton has gone to Denver. Kurt Warner played for the Giants and Cardinals. Steve Young retired as a starter. Marino retired as a starter. Jim Kelly retired as a starter. Elway went out as a starter.

I have a feeling as long as we keep adding weapons drew will keep up the production for a good while

Brees ain't teaching the guy behind him sh!t!
He has pretty said it.
"You never let the guy backing you up see the field".
When it comes to being the QB and leader on this team Brees is a stone cold killer. If competitiveness were a measure like IQ he would be in Mensa.

I'll go a step further and just say it, RYAN GRIFFIN fng sucks! He is not the future for us, nor any other NFL football team. Possibly in the arena league, but not in the NFL. Once practice squad, always practice squad.

Good to see that you know more than Sean Payton, who elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.

While he may not be the future, we obviously thought enough of him to prevent other teams from picking him up. He has the arm to be a decent backup in the league IMO and looked good in preseason

Like Kurt Warner, Tony Romo (SP guy), Harrison, Wes Welker, Arian Foster, etc.

Hell from the SP era alone: PT, Lance Moore, Robinson, Ivory, Joique Bell, etc.
