What?? I've never heard that once. I was in 6th/7th grade when the Brass folded, so what kids are still mad about the Brass?

in new Orleans, kids just don't get the opportunity to "practice" hockey enough to become a fan when they get older. it's not like baseball, basketball, and football.

they can't just go outside and play hockey in the snow/ice when they want to.

I say...it would fail.

Nashville supports the shite out of the Predators. Those games are so much fricking fun.

I think its a great idea, but I'd wait for the Pelicans to turn the corner with their current talent before throwing money at a new team.

Yeah, I would say after hitting 4 games this year after moving from NYC that the games are fun, and the population definately supports them in terms of attendance.

It's sad though that the TV ratings have been sub-par. Probably due to having your star goalie injured for 1/2 the season and a style of play that encourages defense first, having Weber fire the puck at mach 4 and pray that Hornqvist gets a rebound.

Nashville support is much better than the Whalers, where I was a fan as a kid growing up. I don't think they're going anywhere soon, especially if they can find someone to put the puck in the net.

Bridgestone isn't MSG, but the atmosphere is as good or better than any non original 6 team in the US that didn't start off the season as a Cup Contender.

few years ago when they made the playoffs and beat the Red Wings at home, it was ELECTRIC.

My office closed the next day to celebrate. We have like 2,500 people in our office

Would probably go about as well as Atlanta.

Atlanta left because of inept ownership, not due to lack of fan support

I've never been to Nashville. but, I wonder if they have as many "inner city" kids playing sports in the skreets as new Orleans?

Nope. But I would go to some New Orleans MLB games fo sho. Just build that rail between Baton Rouge and NOLA.

I can only imagine. They've grown on me man, I went to the home opener against Minnesota and Gnash led the team onto the ice driving an ATV and did some donuts and the place exploded. Not conventional but they are doing everything right to grow the sport except scoring. The defense was spectacular and made Maz look like he was a goaltender in the NHL when really he's probably only qualified to play for the Mississippi Ice Dogs.

New coach, our stud goalie will be healthy next year, hopefully we can score a little.

Momentum is coming back to the organization.

I would support a New Orleans hockey team on one condition:

The arena/venue would be built somewhere in East Jefferson- Metairie, Kenner, Harahan, etc.- where all the fans would be coming from (like the Zephyrs did), and the venue would be open for ice skating year-round.

I think it would work as long as they keep everything away from downtown, and I personally would be a huge fan.

I think an AHL team in that arena might work. Houston would be the closest rival. If AHL works then worry about NHL. I don't think that NOLA is an NHL city.

We'd never be an NHL city, but something regional like the ECHL that we were in when we had the Brass would be perfect. Play teams from cities like Lafayette, Mobile, Pensacola, etc.

I really disagree with this philosophy.

Minor league baseball teams do poorly in cities, but that doesn't mean an MLB team would do poorly.

For instance, The Nashville Sounds have no fans ever, but I guarandamntee if they brought in an MLB team it would be a hit.

Sometimes you just have to go big or go home.

But their games aren't on TV here, so it's an afterthought. They are barely even covered on the local news.

Even in the NYC you used to get at least 4 Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets A league team) games a month. Here it is like they don't even exist.
