I don't like using bottled gas. I own a blowtorch; hell, I own an oxy/acetylene rig. But I'd like a more environmentally friendly lighting alternative. Small gas bottles aren't refillable, and there is no curbside recycling in my parish. So I try to go with reuseable alternatives whenever possible.

use the weber lighter cubes or some other type of firestarter
i use mine in conjunction with a chimney starter and I can get coals as hot as i want them
