There was a pretty good article posted last week about it. Seems like it's mostly guys wanting to throw so hard now, they develop mechanics that put more stress on the elbow. It's probably not the only reason, but it doesn't help

Good article, thanks for the link. I had shoulder problems when I played. I was super flexible in the AC joint. It was a blessing and a curse, as my Dr put it. It allowed me to throw hard, but it was so loose that it would pop out and back in frequently. Ended up tearing a labrum and shredding my rotator cuff. I never had elbow issues and just wondered about new mechanics causing it.

that could be part of it.

there are probably several common factors among pitchers who get injuried and among them would be the sheer insane nature of a human being throwing an object at 90+MPH
