This. I was just about to post this. I'd rather see the museum partially fund itself this way instead of having the government fund it 100%.

this......if someone is making cash, no. If it operates as not-for-profit and to sustain the museum, yes.

Ummmm... The Musuem charges admission. And it is a significant amount.

$24 to get in.

$700 million to build. Covered entirely by your tax dollars and private donations.

It's not like a 9/11 gift shop is something new. They had one that you exited through when you visited just the memorial before the museum opened. I remember them selling those leaves of the survivor tree and my wife wanting to get them. I made a donation and left that place, I didn't want suveniors from that....

That was one of the saddest places I have been to, I don't need a token reminder to wear around about how utterly depressing it is...
