is there a more communistic law than the "seat belt" law?

why is wearing a seatbelt even a law? I can definitely understand making kids wear it but, why in the world do adults have to wear them?
if life insurance decide not to pay if you are not wearing them....so be it. but, don't take away the "choice" that the citizens have if they want to wear them knowing the negative consequences.

Insurance companies save money and can lower premiums, municipalities charge fines and add to public coffers, peoples lives are saves, advancements in passive safety methods are allowed to take place...wtf is the problem exactly?

communistic?
It's just anti freedom. I love how the commercials show the a-hole LEO pulling them over as "the good guy"
It's a personal responsibility thing.
I always wear my seatbelt.

fricking hate seat belt laws... If I don't want to wear one, why should I have to?
I don't see motorcyclist wearing seatbelts... Oh, that's because they can't and it wouldn't help anything? So just outlaw motorcycles
I also think, for safety reasons, that you shouldn't be allowed to ride a bicycle without a helmet

gives police a legal reason to pull a car over for no other reason

Well, first of all, if you are driving on public roads, you have to abide by the rules of the road.
That means you have to drive the speed limit, you have to have a license plate, you have to have a license, and you have to wear a seat belt.
Not a big deal.

The law begins and ends with the insurance industry's lobbying efforts.
You should always wear a seatbelt regardless.

My chances of living go up exponentially with it on than with it off.

I am against most anything that infringes upon personal freedom...but this is not one of them.
First, driving a vehicle on a publicly owned roadway is not a right or a liberty granted to you by the constitution. It is a privilege earned and licensed. It can be revoked. When you agree to the terms of this privilege, you agree to the rules regulating the act of operating a vehicle on public roadways.
No liberties are infringed on by seatbelt laws. In fact, many innocent lives are saved by requiring that children of ignorant parents be safely restrained as those children would most likely not be buckled in without threat of monetary penalty.
If one wishes to drive without a seatbelt buckled, they have the option of going to Bubba's farm and driving along dirt roads to their hearts delight...if Bubba so allows. Or buy a large tract of private property themselves.
