probably one or both of those are true. at the end of the day, I want to sleep with her so I should probably make that clear. We've known each other in a professional sense for close to 3 years now. I've actually never really considered her an option until she dropped some weight recently after she joined the army. I guess this would be a case of me initially "friend-zoning" her and then realizing after she dropped some weight that I wanted to sleep with her.

I didn't think people in the friend zone ever had an opportunity to go on dates before entering said zone. But I'm not a friend zone expert.

Since the divorce almost eight years ago, I can think of getting FZed twice. I give a lot of rope in that if there is no intimacy by the fourth date I move on. So compared to the number of scores, twice is not a bad record.
Particularly telling is that the two who FZed me are still sitting home by themselves a couple of years later. Evidently, everyone else is on to them as well.

Someone mentioned long phone conversations when you haven't even been on a date yet. That made me cringe because that was me 10 years ago before I knew better.
If you've been on a date you're probably not in the friend zone. There's probably just no chemistry which is just as bad.
