Why the frick would someone spend 8k on a rifle?
Wife received a sizable inheritance and said I could spend up to $8k on something from collectors firearms in Houston for my birthday.
The responses in here have been great. Need to do some research...

If you have rifle/scope combo that is accurate enough for hunting purposes (and you should) just use it. Spend the 8k on an adventure you will always remember. Take your wife with you on safari in South Africa or Namibia. 8k will build a fine package where you have great lodging, take 5-6 animals, and spend a couple days doing other activities with your wife. When you add in airfare and taxidermy you will need a little more money but sounds like she has it.
I love guns, but a great gun sitting in a safe does not equal the memory of a great adventure.
Just one guys opinion.

Hopefully it is millions or y'all will blow through it quick if you are trying to justify 8k for freaking birthday present. That's a semester of college for a kid

I love me Blaser R93 I have it in 7mm08 & 270wsm . one of the best balanced riffles I have ever owned. The trigger is fantastic and the straight pull bold action is fast and efficient for follow up shots. Love it !!!

Collector Firearms eh? In that case, I would buy an AR(if you don't have one) with optics and accessories, 20 magazines, and one of those badass Spanish Conquistador helmets they have over there. Then spend the rest on ammo and beer and go conquer some shite with your helmet on.
Side note: Collector has a very nicely stocked suppressor case. If you're looking to get into the NFA game, it might be worth a look. Have fun.

Also, those that are saying no to the blaser have never handled nor used one. They are absolutely one of the finest made, technologically advanced bolt action riffles ever made. Get the new R8 Model Sport with synthetic stock in the 338L and get a 7mm08 barrel and bolt head conversion and you will have two of the best calibers for hunting small/ med and large game.
The scope mounting notches in the barrel make for quick release for take down and a compact carry case. When re connected the scope is back on zero due to the notched scope mount on the barrel. At first I was skeptical but have tested many times with perfect results .
I have nothing but praise for my Blaser R93.

I have a wide assortment of guns. As does my brother and father. So that's what drew me to the Blaser because it's not something I had ever held before. I wish there was a range so I could fire it first. It feels great. I'd love to shoot something +1km away. I have about 3 days before I need to make a decision so I really appreciate all the responses.
