Always ask for more than you want. All they can do is say no.

Think of it this way, the person you are asking wants to make more money also, therefore they will completely understand.

also find out when you would possibly get a raise next go around......If they give you what you want upfront you may not see a raise for awhile.

Idk what type job you have but in my situation it's tough to ask for raise.
June will make 2 yrs I've been with same outfit.
I see my boss 1-2 times yr, talk to him maybe once a week.. Sometimes more. They give me a badass exp account and truck totally paid for ...gas/maintenance and ins.
Little in the way of accountability, plus I get commission at end year.
My salary is better than most.
So I'm really not wanting to rock boat.

Problem is my 3-4% increase ive gotten just about covers the increase in health ins cost.... So I'm not really bringing home in any extra monthly income.

My first couple paychecks were substantially more than now bc obv there were no retirement, ins ect withheld.
Eventually I'm gonna need a raise or find something on side to make extra.
I'm not easily satisfied, I could make 10k month ....pretty soon I'm gonna want 12k.

I think I should leave it alone and find an extra source of income.

Ask for more by selling him on why you are worth more. Don't just ask for more money. Show him why you are worth it.
