It can be a great place to live. The main reason expats are high there is because of money. Money is the only reason that place is on the map. It was built like it is with oil money, and done so for when the oil money runs out. Now, there are some rules/laws that most from America aren't used to. I believe you can still be arrested for kissing in public. There are certain "rules" regarding what a woman can wear in certain places. It isn't America, but it also isn't like other countries in the Middle East. If the OP is young and the money is right, I would definitely do it. Shoot, I would do it for just the money.

Another fact: you have no idea what you're talking about from first hand experience. It's easy to tell.

I'd love to work there. So much damn money in that area.

Miami right now is full of Arab/Russian investors. Would be cool for me to find work between the two areas.

Isn't the oil getting closer to running out? I know my Father's company got pulled out because they refused to invest more for what little supply they had left.

She's a tiny little 100# blonde so I know she'd be just a little out of place in the Middle East.
It´s the fricking Persian Gulf.

If she can speak English, she´ll be fine. There are huge expat communities, the English being the dominant one.

There is a ton of them over there. You can tell who not to frick with by the number on their license plate. Very low numbers mean that fricker is royalty.

It isn't uncommon to see supercars abandoned in their parking lots. It's amazing to see what they have in their impound lots over there.

I have a buddy working over there for NOV. He seems to like it. Always posting pics of him golfing at super nice courses and hanging out on sweet yachts. Only catch is their work week is Sunday to Thursday and catching American sporting events are a challenge. I would go if I could, but I wouldnt want to stay overly long.

When I use to go for visits, the strip clubs were loaded with some very good quality Russian/Eastern Euro talent. That same talent was all over their beaches too, I always heard about how they had a strict dress code, but the Russians were like frick that noise.

You could get alcohol if you had a license or as a tourist in the hotels last time I went.

They are pretty much illegal brothels.

The government pretty much turns a blind eye to a lot of the nightlife stuff that is forbidden.

Well that's better. Crazyass Russians can't function without vodka. Are the local girls cute or all covered up and off limits?

Wife did it about 10 years ago, she was only there for 3 months on a project. Said it was interesting but wouldn't stay for extended time.
