The only thing we would have gotten out of letting Gordon go is financial freedom. But there's no way at the time that would have been good enough for most of the fan base to pacify them for the loss of CP.

And reasonably so. You can have the $ in the world but the fact remains that you have to have guys willing to take that $.

Perhaps Gordon's delusion could work to our advantage. If he really thinks he is a legit # 1 guy then he has to opt out, right?! Yes Gordon, you are a franchise cornerstone!

OR, he can tell the team to stretch provision him and then go play somewhere for the minimum while the Pelicans still pay him a la Andray Blatche. Stretch Provision isn't a terrible ending, but the only way this ends well is if they bench him and he performs well.

I agree with CQQ. If Demps had a great alternative (s&t) or something it would have been different. I'll also say that as shitty as his contract may be, I don't think the guy's the a-hole some people make him out to be.

maybe not...but he's far from what you want as a leader/max contract guy for your young franchise...and he's far from good enough at basketball at this point for his contract.

...it's killing us...if his salary was available right now, look out!...sadly, he's still here making stupid answers to stupid questions

I miss arguing with Tehchampion about it.

Eric was brought here to lead and set the tone for the team 3 years ago. He was hurt the first & second year and he still led the team in scoring. So there is no disputing his statement, period.
No NBA player wants to be a 6th man.

I keep trying to like this guy, because he used to be so good.

Now, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a suit for the remainder of his contract. Idc about the money.

Well...and...but...you know....I'm speechless, except to say: This guy is a complete jackass!!!!

Maybe he's on to something, it seems that many players on the team followed his lead and the tone he set by getting injured.

Get this joker out of here...even if you have to eat his asinine contract. He's an idiot.

That's all.

Literally, if not for the luck of getting AD, that may have been one of the worst trades in NBA history.

You might be right.

The owners screwed up big time in the last CBA negotiations. They should have put a stop to this guaranteed contract bull shite. This will ultimately kill the small market teams because they don't have the money to pay the luxury tax to bring more talent when they get into a bad contract.

You sign a "Gordon" type contract and you're done for 4 to 5 years. Think about it, the cap will be $62M next season and Gordon eats up $14.7M of that...almost 25% of the entire cap.

I'd be willing to bet that if EG were on a big market team, he'd suddenly be healthy and play better.

He will never be a leader on any team. It's not really a knock on him as a player, he is just an extremely introverted guy. What I don't think he realizes is how easily he could revise his image. If he made a couple of comments about loving the city, being excited for the season, doing a bunch of work in the community, etc. people would start to look past one dumbass comment. I honestly think he's naive to the fact that he's disliked.

There isn't anything he can do to remake his image at this point. Everyone knows he is a flaming bag of douche, and he needs to go.

As for not knowing how liked he is, I am quite confident he knows just how much he is liked around here. My only hope is someone trades us some expiring contracts for him or he opts out.

Make that fricker the 6th man and tell him he can deal with it, or opt out.

Tyreke Evans comes to mind. Dude definitely dogged it a few times this year, but people love him now.

This is just a dumb statement. He was one of our most consistently healthy players this year and had a solid year.

frick THIS GUY! GET HIM OFF THE ROSTER!!!

If anyone is defending this guy at this point, I have to consider that you are embroiled in a torrid affair with his sour puss ass. He is not worth the contract, he is not willing to accept his role on this team so that we can be successful, and at this point he is a detriment.

Stick him at the 6th man and let's hope he opts out next season. That is our best chance to be gone of this cancer unless someone offers us some expiring contracts.

if the desired tone was to play 60% of the games and suck in the second half of 100% of those games then he is doing a mop up job.

To his credit he stayed pretty healthy this year and was shut down due to us being out of the playoff picture(Yeah he had a knee injury but it wasn't really serious and morrow/AR were playing well)

His play was not bad but just meh

He averaged 15.4 PPG and shot 43% from the field... that's not what you expect from a max contract guy.

You want superstar or great stats from a max contract player.
