Colin Cowherd said today, "If you can't answer the tough questions your kids have, then don't have kids."

It's not about answering the "tough" questions. At 5 years old, they shouldn't even have to be exposed to those types of things. It's just difficult to explain in a way to where they understand. I know my son, I'll try to give him a simple explanation, but then he will bombard me with 15 more questions

I think people would have a much easier time answering the question if they were not concerned about the PC police.

Let me tell you what, there are quite a few people that I would listen to give me advice before I would listen to that guy. He says things mainly to get people to click on his radio show or to call up his radio show. That is it. As far as what he actually said, here is a little example for Mr. Cowherd. On September 11th, 2001, if your kids came home from school asking you about that, would you have had an answer right away? What about if your wife died in a car wreck and your kids wanted to know why? What if one of their friends parents got a divorce and they learned about it at school that day and came home asking you why? Do you think you would just have a great answer right on the spot? Oh, you wouldn't? Oh ok, well according to Mr. Cowherd, you shouldn't have kids. You see how stupid that is? Look, what happened on Saturday and other things like that are big-time issues. No matter what side of that and other big-time issues you are on, those are never easy things to explain to a child, much less your own child. While I wouldn't come to the O-T Board with help, I certainly understand parents not knowing exactly how they are going to explain issues like this. I would love to offer a response to the OP, but I am definitely not intelligent enough to give you a response that I think would be suitable for your child, you know your child the best and I would use that knowledge of how your child thinks to come up with a good way of explaining what they saw on Saturday. Fortunately for me, I don't have to worry about issues like that for a few years, but now knowing exactly what you are going to say doesn't make you unfit to be a parent, it makes you human.
