Smith played decent that year and ran their offense. I said capable QB play, not great. And if they were so easy to find you wouldn't have teams willing to sacrifice everything year in and year out for one.
half the teams in the league have capable QBs. Are we going to have a hard time finding one? Possibly. I never said it was going to be a crapshoot, but certain organizations have a better history of finding better offensive players than others. Up until a couple years ago, you could say we sucked drafting defensively as well. Some teams are just better in some departments
QBs are vastly important, but defense can win games with a mediocre offense. The past 3 years showed me that. Teams like Detroit are loaded offensively, but they can't win every game by outshooting opponents because of eventual turnovers (on offense) and bad defensive plays. Same with Dallas and a whole load of other teams with good QBs. Even Atlanta struggled last year with a horrible defense and above average Ryan. A defensive team like Arizona almost made the playoffs and had 10 wins. Arizona was #12, but #5 defensively in that division
