Because of Cooks with the added presence of Flanders. He's no longer the special bird with semi Sproles role filling capabilities. With Cooks he's become the red headed step child.

We're keeping 4 HBs no question. And I have no idea if Flanders is good or bad. If he comes in like Ivory, PT, or Robinson did then kiss Cadet goodbye. If he comes in like PJ Hill or Hamilton he hits the PS. If he sucks he's gone.

Not sure how you missed the whole talk about Cooks before unless you're intentionally creating strawmans or trolling.

Edit:
Also Gyno, ALL of that stuff was said before the Cooks pick. And all of it sounds like maybe this maybe that to me.

quote:

Cadet did well enough in games and practices to convince Payton he’s a possibility to ease the effects of Sproles’ absence, the coach said. Payton had no qualms declaring that Cadet would have the chance to be more involved in the running, passing and kickoff return games, and he’d contend to field punts full-time.
Key words highlighted. That's also what Cooks can do, and do it better.

Didn't miss that at all. Of course Cooks will shoulder some load in the short passing game, but he'll pose little threat out of the backfield because there is no threat there as a runner. You have to be able to keep defenses honest, and a guy like Cadet can do that because they can also mix in the run.

WE have to not only replace Sproles in the short passing game, but Lance Moore as well. I love Cooks but to think he can come in and replace 140 catches is silly.

They still need that receiving threat out the backfield. And even if Flanders can prove to do some of that, he's not going to over take Cadet after 3 offseason's in the system. Practice squad at best.

Lol

You can't "possibly" have the "chance" to "contend" for playing time if you aren't on the roster

Cooks is a WR. Unless he also capable of running the ball 70 times a year, then no, he cannot do what Cadet does. Being able to run the football between the tackles is a huge deal if you want that guy to remain a threat out of the backfield through the air. You said the same shite about mccluster. You are talking about WRs. Everyone else is talking about RB with WR capabilities for that role.
