that 27-30 sweet spot? It's not "barren," but it's underrepresented. And given that 27 through 30 is prime age for most soccer players, that's a bit odd.

Here's a Best XI of "afterthought" guys in that age group, including a league MVP, a two-time Defender of the Year, and multiple MLS Cup heroes. But none of whom will likely go to Brazil:

FWD: Mike Magee
FWD: Kenny Cooper
LM: Justin Mapp
RM: Lee Nguyen
CM: Benny Feilhaber
DM: Dax McCarty
LB: Corey Ashe
CB: Chad Marshall
CB: Drew Moor
RB: Marvell Wynne
GK: Luis Robles

It's a really interesting thought. I wonder if it's a direct consequence of Jurgen coming in and basically starting over with so much of the system.

I think it's more a result of those guys not being good enough for the international level.

ETA:
- Feilhaber's form dropped
- Lee Nguyen fricked off to Vietnam and fell off the radar

I thought this would be about the American footballers from the 1950s to the 1990s. ie, the dark age.

We have quite a few contributors from that age group. Bradley, Cameron, Bedoya, Besler off the top of my head. If Holden's career hadn't been stolen by those two foreign idiots, 27-30 year olds would be the heart of this team. They already kind of are.
The guys listed in the article aren't good enough. Though I think Benny probably could be.

Feilhaber should get another shot. He's been playing well for SKC.

To be fair, we already have 2 great GKs in Howard and Guzan.

Feilhaber is playing the best football of his career. Imo, he deserves a call up to the upcoming camp.

That is my generation. Sorry guys, we were too busy smoking weed and going off to college. Wasn't much of a career in playing professional soccer. I mean fricking Ricardo Clark was a starter for the national team and he was awful.
