Look to spend $10-$20K for plans. (depends on size of project)
Wait what? When i was thinking of subbing my house, i had several companies price their blueprints at 50 - 70 cents a sqft under roof.
I ended up having a builder build it ground up, so what am i missing?

This is much closer to a draftsman. Architects are much more and really aren't need for most residential homes...

I was basing it on what we paid our architect.
By the time it was all said and done, paying for the engineering on the slab and the changes (not too many), we were around $15K.
One guy we talked to was going to be around 20, but he had group to assist with decorating and colors, etc. Good guy, but seemed to artsy for us.
You can either pay the architect for a slab stamp or the slab company will charge for that, so thats a wash, really.
