4.77-second setback: How mom helped LSU's Jarvis Landry recover from shaky start in NFL draft process
quote:
As he walked off the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in February, former LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry was devastated. He'd trained for two months for the NFL scouting combine and felt he'd reached his physical peak at the perfect time, but when it was his turn to perform in front of the men who make the draft decisions, his body failed him.
Landry, one of the top wide receivers in this year's draft class, had strained his right hamstring while warming up to run the 40-yard dash but decided to run it anyway. He turned in a time of 4.77 seconds, leaving him dead last among an unusually deep class of receivers.
Jarvis Landry had a disappointing showing at the NFL scouting combine in February. "Man, I was hurt by it," Landry told Yahoo Sports. "After the combine I was kind of in disbelief, like, this is the biggest interview of my life and I got an incomplete."

His pro day still wasn't very good.
I love the guy, buy I still can't believe his vertical. Drew Brees is more athletic according to his
I'm interested to see his NFL career
I think he can and will be successful with his work ethic. His special teams ability should help him stick around too. The fear of his explosiveness and possible inability to get separation may scare team away. His vertical, shuttle, and 3 cone drill performances raise some red flags for a guy that is projected as a slot receiver. The only similar player I can think of is Welker in terms of speed and vertical, but he's incredibly quick

One of my favorite Tigers of all time. Just a tough gritty kid who plays 110% all the time. I don't care what his 40 time or vertical is that kid is a gamer. Whoever drafts him is getting a great football player. He will be a steal and have great success in the NFL. Jarvis

"I'm the hungriest receiver in the draft, period" Landry said. "And hunger can't be measured with a stopwatch."
