I respect Bruce. He has a few good songs but I never find myself listening to them. Goin Down is my favorite tune by him. Clarence Clemons was a beast. I am also glad I saw the Jazz Fest 06 performance that has become a symbol of post-Katrina revitalization in New Orleans.

Love him and the E Street Band is ripped... and I hated him growing up, before college.. Like most have said, his best work was in the 70s, but i still think his 80s stuff was quality, too.. Born in the USA suffered from over production, as did most popular music of that time... but the songs are still good (Glory Days - hate that he uses speed ball instead of fast ball, but oh well...)

I think his newer stuff is OK, but I think most songwriters that have been around 40+ years, seem to decline...

But, he never short changes the fans when it comes to live shows... Still 3+ hours ever time (coming from a person who usually can't be bothered past an hour and a half or so)... and never mails it in..

I always like the piece that Nick Hornby wrote about him and in particular Thunder Road...

His son has stepped in for him, as you may be aware, and he did a terrific job yesterday.
