Grass/ Sod question

I'm building a new house and about to be ready for sod. Ive never had the chance to start a yard from scratch and pretty excited about it.
Any tips for types of bermuda to use? I live in NWA so I know it's that in-between growth zone. I like to keep my grass cut really short.
Also, most of the yards in my neighborhood have pro lawn services lay sod, etc. But I'm not impressed with how bumpy and uneven their yards are. Any tips for leveling the yard as much as possible.
I'm thinking of grading my yard with topsoil, seeding heavily and leveling with sand over the top. Would that be feasible alternative to sodding?

Get some MSMA. It pretty much kills all grass except Bermuda.

You can grade the yard and use topsoil and seed. It will take longer, but if you have a sprinkler system, you can pour the fertilizer to it and you will have a full stand by mid summer.

There are some bermudas adapted for your area but I would think a zoysia grass would do much better year in and year out.

In my experience, Sod is great if you want a quick lawn, but also a pain if you really want it smooth. Most of the houses in my neighborhood had to bring in dirt the following year to fill in the gaps.
I would get it as smooth as possible and hydroseed it. Cheaper than Sod, faster than spreading seed.
