Literally NO seller in the history of selling goods/items would ever "feel" this way. They are BS'ing you. Something happened with the others guy credit or something along those lines. Or he backed out because he found something with it that he didn't like. I would pass on the boat and them as a dealership...And I definitely wouldn't take down the FB message.

Not saying the dealership is in the right, but some equipment folks hear customers saying they are coming to get the item and never show. They are called "be backs" saying they'll be back later without making a commitment. A lot of times they perceive you are saying that and then shopping them for a better deal. They were unable to close the deal with the other customer or that boat wouldn't be yours.

If you feel they are shady (and they may be), why are you giving them your money anyway? I wouldn't give a second chance to a retailer if they screwed with me first.

This. Boats are made everyday and you can get one somewhere else and then have better service by bringing it to the seller.

I smeared Cox cable all over their FB and twitter because they were being dicks about something and I had been arguing with them about it for 6 months. It took the smear on twitter (I created an account just to smear them) for them to make things right. Well worth it IMO.

Why don't they just delete your post? They don't need your permission.

What? No.

It looks like you did exactly what needed to be done to secure the boat you wanted. If I were you, I would simply take down the post and be happy with the boat and deal. You have the boat, seller has the money.

No harm, no foul.

I would be hesitant doing business with them. What happens if later down the road something happens and they act shady again.

If you decide to go ahead and get the boat I'd renegotiate a better price or make them throw in a depth finder, or life jackets, or a motor upgrade, or free service for a few years, or a free boat cover, or etc......

So much drama.

If you are willing to pay the price and take possession of the boat, do it. After the deal is over it is your boat and your responsibility. No regrets.

And you are no longer allowed to create or participate in drama about the boat. Don't go bitching in three months when your bilge pump goes out.

The lesson here is put some cash, any amount of cash, as a down payment or deposit. Around here we call it "earnest money," because it keeps everyone honest. You put down money and don't follow through, you forfeit the money. If they breach the deal, you get your money back double.

Sure he has a case to bitch. They said they would hold the boat for him. They didn't.

THIS...all they had to do was call and say someone is interested, you are first option. At that point they would/should ask you to come with a deposit to continue to hold..

Your post is fine, nothing wrong with that being the reason they did not sell it to the other guy...with that being said, I really don't believe the other guy was ready....I can't see them turning down money in hand hoping you come back.

Congrats on the boat?!

ps....always put a deposit down on something you really want...it's just more binding that way.
