He started as the voice of the Tigers the same year I entered as a freshman. Like me, he came from Shreveport, where he was the voice of the Centenary Gents. He has taken a lot of abuse over the years, and I love the guy. But it's time to hang it up.

He is easily confused. Hanagriff repeatedly corrects him (politely). When we made the last out of the game, Hawthorne said, "And that retires the side." Huh.

Give baseball to Charlie, and make a ceremonial offer to Tim Brando for football (he will decline). Then get some ace in here. Give Jim lifetime tickets to the AD suite and set him up with all the hookers he can handle. It's time.

I've read some really idiotic things on this site, but that ranks up near the top of dumb statements. Why in the hell would we offer that douche anything?

Get a life bro. If this is what consumes your thoughts time to reevaluate.

If you're that upset, start calling the sponsors.

Well that out does retire the side as well as end the game. Whats the big fricking deal. Win an SEC series and come here to find something to bitch about...our play by play announcer at that.

I like JH, no matter who replaces him, they will be picked apart here on the rant, and well deserved, Lol.

As far as Brando, his opinions suck at times, but like it or not, being the voice of the Tigers might be a step down for him. The dude is respected and well liked by many.

I was at Centenary when he was the voice of the Gents basketball team. He was great at it. His side kick was a guy named Irv Zeitman who did the public address when Robert Parish was there.

Hawthorne was never good at football. But painting the picture is not as important today in LSU football because all of the games are on TV.

Back in the day I relied on John Ferguson to describe the action on radio and he was really good.
