I have right at an acre of land..nothing to expensive but will do it quickly, will last, and not need much personal maintenance... I have a craftsman that I've had for about 8 years.. A good mower but slow.. I only have so much time at home and I want to make the most of it

How much are you looking to spend? Gravely is a solid mower and reasonably priced IMHO. They have different grades and cuts down to 34".
Here is their web-site. Gravely

Out of those I would personally go with a Husqvarna. But if you have a dealer in town that sells X-Mark I would take a look at those. X-mark and Toro are actually made by the same people but the X-mark is a better mower.
I just bought an exmark...I love it.
With that said Exmark or Toro is the way to go...stay away from Club Cadet zero turn...IMHO...

Heck, stay away from Cub Cadet anything. I have a Cub that is a self propelled push mower and it sucks. I spend more time pushing it than it pulling itself.
I help my buddy cut grass after work everyday. He gave me a spare key to his lawn equipment trailer and told me any time I need to use his stuff to just go by his house and get it. He's got a 48inch x-mark pioneer so that's what I've been cutting my grass with the past 2 months. I won't go back to the Cub unless I absolutely have to.

Update: Decided on a Big Dog Alpha 52 which is an upgraded Hustler Raptor. Thanks for all the input.

How much did you spend, if you dont mind me asking. Pops is in the market and asked me to research for him, similar size lot and price range.

I got it for $2900, normally run about $3300. Welded deck, upgraded seat, 23 hp Kawasaki, lights.

i had the john deere z235 and I loved that thing. it would be perfect for just around an acre
I have this mower. I can cut right under two acres in about 45 minutes.

I would have loved a John Deere. That model has a stamped deck, because of that i decided against it.
