Because there is no simple, single gay gene. To think there is or that one would be discovered is idiotically simplistic. Theres still no diabetes gene, or hypertension gene, or prostate cancer gene etc etc but still a huge familial component to all of these.

How are parents and society better off with gay kids that won't reproduce?
IDK. Many folks would probably claim Leonardo da Vinci made society a better place. I thoroughly enjoy "Madman Across the Water". Don't know about the society thing in that instance. Plenty of women are dressed in some awfully nice designer clothes developed by gay men. I vote that as a societal improvement.

Then if the first is gay, have another. They will love them both and the odds of one couple having multiple gay kids is remote.

Why should they have a gay kid if that's not what they want and there is a way to prevent it?

Never said they shouldn't be allowed to change it. I said the kid and society would be better off than having parents like that who will only love a certain type of child even if that child had no choice in how they were born.

I've also learned that a woman's womb is naturally inclined to make the fetus a female.

It's my understanding that we all start off with a female brain. Hormones kick in during the early development stages and change sexuality for the people that have the aligning anatomy.

So I guess we are all conceived gay.

Who cares if your kid is gay? You are going to love them regardless. Improve the odds of eventually having grand kids by having more than one child....if that's important to you.

Well the kid might be better off but I'm still not sure how society benefits from people having gay sex?

Fewer shitty parents and people that would do that, the better.

Not wanting your kid to turn out gay makes somebody a shitty parent? Please.

Where did I say that? Choosing to take highly risky drugs in order to make sure they aren't gay or choosing to have an abortion solely because they are gay makes them shitty.

I cited several. How many examples do you need?

Ah, you see you're not supposed to judge women who have abortions or the reasons they choose to do so.

Nice rebuttal lol

ETA: You said yourself the kid might be better off not having parents like that.

Still no "gay gene" discovered.

I was told in the 90s that the "gay gene" would be discovered very soon.

gay gene:global warming

Except then global warming became "climate change"

They haven't figured out a good excuse yet for why the "gay gene" evidently cannot be discovered.

You must be a biology major with a concentration in human genetics.

I said or at least I meant a gay kid would be better off having parents that don't care if the kid is gay.

That doesn't mean that if there were an option for potential parents to know for sure that their kid would be straight that exercising that option makes them shitty parents.

Even given the tremendous risks it involves? Is it really worth it at that point? And what if the drugs end up not working and your gay son finds out one day what you tried to do?

Shitty parents.

You are making a leap there equating a parent would would make a choice (assuming no risk) is equivalent to a parent would wouldn't love a homosexual child.

As a parent, if a Dr. came and gave us the choice, I'd choose heterosexual...assuming there was no risk involved.

If there were a health risk involved in the therapy, of course I would not.

And of course, since we don't have this option today, if my child ended up being a homosexual, I would love him/her exactly as much if he/she was a heterosexual.

So how would that child feel if the drugs didnt work and he/she later found out what their parents tried to do?

He/She would probably feel like there was something wrong with them and that's the worst feeling a parent can put on a child.
