It's their idea that assault rifles should carry the same type of protection.

Why? Statistically all forms of rifles together are used in less murders than shotguns, handguns, and blunt objects each year.

If anything they have the strongest case to be made to allow for the right to own and carry them. The reason being, is they are only viable for home defense and the event of a tyrannical Government turning on its people.

For those wishing to commit a crime with a gun, they choose a handgun a majority of the time due to the fact it's easy to carry, easy to hide, and easy to discard of.

People have no logical reason to fear "assault rifles". It's only because they look dangerous that they associate them with dangerous or criminal acts.

How will anyone in society be harmed if a law abiding citizen wants a full auto rifle, for whatever purpose?

Why are the police allowed to use these weapons but citizens are not?

The 2nd Amendment makes no distinction between arms for the police / military and citizenry.

No. No you don't.

Why don't I hear your argument first before you exercise your first amendment rights.

I can't help but to just

I couldn't convince some of you that the Earth is round. It doesn't matter that I own guns, was in the military, have more expertise in firing weapons, etc.

I may buy a, yes, "rapid assault rifle", just to protect myself from some of you.

So you don't have a logical answer to the question.

has what to do with the present discussion?

was in the milita

see above

Has exactly what to do with founders intentions of the 2nd Amendment?

Not trying to bust your balls but the statist think they know better than each and every individual too. This is not about who pulled a trigger more or in what capacity.

I've been a rifleman in the Marine Corps for 14 years and I have the exact opposite opinion of you on the matter. So maybe military experience has nothing to do with debating our fundamental rights.

It bolsters his argument from authority, obviously.

He fails to meet even his own standard of knowledge by using this term.

Really? I thought you were 25 or so?

Regardless, the issue is I'm not going to spin my wheels with a decidedly opinionated base on a topic that I have no chance of converting.

I'm a reasonable sort, I enjoy lots of the posts by the said posters condemning me. It's not personal. It's just not worth it.

I'm not opinionated, I'm just exercising a constitutional right. Opinion doesn't really enter the equation.

And I really don't try to convert someone to believe in the constitution. It's worked for over 200 yrs, and will work another if you believe it's the foundation of the country.

Thx for your service btw

Such as the Georgia Governor, Legislature, and those that elected them. That tends to trump us message board low lifes.

Reasonable people "discussing" such issues would be right there with you, but your passive aggressive/narcissistic barbs are such easy pickings for people focused on the issue.

I'm impressed that the bill allows guns into government buildings. We'll see if they follow through, but it's rare to see politicians ante up like this. If guns are now ok to be in schools and churches, they should also be allowed in the state house, courtrooms, and all other previously sensitive areas. Politicians should be on the front line like anyone else.
