Normally law abiding citizens make bad decisions when drunk. See DWIs. I'm not saying it should be illegal, but if you bring a gun into a bar you're a fricking idiot.

What if you are eating in a restaurant with a bar attached and want to carry? Normally this type of bill is working to make that activity legal.

What about the DD? The staff that has to walk to cars after the place is closed (particularly the females)?

ETA: Most permits specifically state that they are invalid if you are intoxicated, around here anyway.

now now jamboy...let them get outraged about something that should be left up to private property owners, then watch as they talk about limited government.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of a nightclub. The type of places where people go with the sole purpose of getting drinking. I know most concealed carry people are responsible gun owners though so I would imagine most don't carry in bars even in places where it's legal. I know if I concealed carried I wouldn't.

I have no issues with carry permits, the right to carry in public places, or even the right to carry in private places.

Any individual could bring a firearm into any circumstance. Easily I believe the law abiding citizens should have rights to protect themselves.

That said, gun rights proponents need to be reasonable as well.

Considering I was in the US Army as a 12b combat engineer, expert in the m16 and educated in detonating c4, I guess my argument that normal citizens shouldn't have access to such weapons by right, makes me {insert name}?

I own a 9mm and a 12 gauge, fwiw. IMO, the issue with gun rights isn't taking guns away from law abiding citizens, it's the proliferation of unnecessary weapons.

I'm not going to call you a name, but why shouldn't a law abiding citizen have a M-16?

C4 is outside the realm of this discussion.

Why is an m16 inside the realm and c4 not?

It's an abstract threshold. Legitimate law abiding citizens have no need of an m16, ak47, c4, claymore, etc. None.

You want to protect yourself. Get a 45 or 9mm, not a rapid assault rifle or more.

Explosives are not considered 'arms.'

Again, what is your reason for this idea?

Should the police also be limited to these types of weapons?

It's the modern musket. It's easy to use. Common caliber. It's a hobby for a lot of people. Very popular in sport shooting. Need I go on.

Bottom line is, I don't need one. I fricking want one. DWI.

I have yet to hear an argument that would make me believe average joe citizen needs an assault rifle.
