Actually you mean 1939. The 1938 team was crappy finishing with a 7-8-1 record and losing to Essos and also three times to Alabama

The team from 1933 was tougher...depression era and all that. They bunked in railroad cars and scavenged whatever they could get out of the river.

Might have been but they sucked even worse going 3-7 and being shutout three times

Dunn was a huge pickup. Not only does he have a great career that we can pitch to pitching prospects but now he can promote a record season for shutouts.

They couldn't afford bats, so they swung tire irons. Ever try hitting a ball with a tire iron? That's hard to do.

Pretty sure he doesn't need to use the shutouts to sell LSU to pitchers. He can use how he is a great former MLB coach that can prepare these kids for the next level

But it should prepare them for the next season when they used wooden bats. Must have felt like swinging a toy bat
