Salmon, I'm actually competing in the first race of my life this weekend. Hard to believe you could make it to 40 yrs old and have never lined up in a race setting of any sort.

3 mile paddleboard race in the Bay. I was going to sign up for the 6 mile, but it was titled elite and I didn't want them waiting for me at the finish line. My surf board will be slow, but it will be interesting to see if people have displacement boards under 12'6" (which is the class I'm in).

I may see what the field looks like (more importantly what their boards look like) and go for the 6 mile once I'm there. It was the same price and I didn't HAVE to preregister. If there are any old guys paddling the 6 mile on surf style boards I'll feel like an arse doing the rec race.
