IMO there was absolutely no reasonable doubt that he intended to deliver a devastating hit to the head and he took advantage of the other player not being aware enough of his surroundings to deliver that hit.

It seems like all big hits wind up being perceived that way, hell, I'm guilty of it myself.

Watch in real time, there wasn't much he could have done.

Hell, try to find some slow mo gifs of marginal hits in slow motion, watch them a few times and tell me they're not dirty.

It is what it is, the good thing about hockey is the guys making the calls after the fact are hockey players. If he gets suspended (Which I expect, I'll support it.) But there wasn't ill intent, I don't think.

I was watching the game live and have seen both game speed versions and slow motion. IMO it would not have warranted a penalty if there was contact, even contact initiated with the head before the body, if he had not continued to accelerate through the impact.

The league is finally trying to get away from the hits that end careers - much like the once celebrated hit of stevens on lindros. IMO these types of hits are going to be penalized with suspensions pretty consistently.
