Horse shite, did you ever have a private plan? they are and were outrageous... no one could afford one that didn't make a wealthy living... I used to have one.. it was expensive. You know who had private plans? Small Business owners that made a pretty good living.

Yes.
Premium was 160 a month.
Eligible for HSA linkage, contributions to which are tax deductible.
Perfect fit for the young and heathy.
And now illegal
Might want to have looked at what was available when you were shopping around rather than just trying to get the same kind of plan that you get at work.

Nonsense. I paid a little less than $90 a month for my catastrophic healthcare plan about six years ago. Now, the ACA did away with those plans.

There were plenty of affordable options available for me. I had a major medical plan through BCBS until I switched to an employer sponsored plan in 2010. It was the perfect policy for me at the time, and it was cheap....
