Not downtown, but one must soak in the social armageddon which occurs nightly at the Remington Bar in the St Regis, aka The Regal Beagle, at least once in their life.

You said Reagle Beagle. You must be my age. Little help.

Second the St. Regis bar, especially if you are going with a group of people. Always fun after weddings, rehearsal dinners, etc.

Remington Bar
I work near there and have been to events at the St. Regis, but never more than a quick drink or two at the bar. Please elaborate on what you mean by "social Armageddon." Clash of different ages? Worth going for people-watching? Thanks.

Also, for the OP, my wife and I (we're "old") attended a small get-together at the club in hotel ZaZa, after a wedding. Saturday night. Place was going pretty good - with excellent people watching and a wide array of age, social status. Tiny dance area, so no real pressure. This was a 2-3 years ago.
