The TRP has a full length guide rod which has a hole in the plug making disassembly a bit more difficult. That's really the biggest difference.

And the other guy was mistaken. The MC Operator has a guide rod too, it's just a shorter G.I. guide rod rather than a full-size.

The merits of the full length guide rod (FLGR) seem to be a source of debate in the 1911 community. Some believe it is a benefit for the recoil spring while others think it is unnecessary and prefer the original style.
