Yea...It's a deep class,it's just that the value of RB's has been decreasing in this pass happy league.

Yup, and that's one of the reasons I'm not as high on some guys and higher on others. Guys like Carey and Hill are both plus receivers out of the backfield.

It's definitely a good year to actually draft one I think. There's no marquee names that might get taken in the first round (and will eventually disappoint, i.e. Mark Ingram, CJ Spiller, Trent Richardson). In my opinion, Carey, Hill, and Charles Sims would be the best fits thanks to their pass catching and protecting skills.

That's the thing though...We might as well just try and get Dri Archer or De'Anthony Thomas to replace Sproles.

Well of course, I'm just trying to create conversation to differentiate between scatback and more traditional RB. Pierre Thomas is getting older and we don't know if his replacement is in the building. Not that we have to find his replacement this season, it's just useful to know our options.

Yeah I just completely forgot that he was entering the draft until I checked the entire list of RBs going into the draft.

He was 1 of the best RBs in the SEC as a freshman. And looked like he would become a great player. But had off the field issues.

Read a few articles on him and it sounds like he is trying to do right and did well in the interview process.

And he bulked up to 225lbs and still ran in the 4.5s and he said he knows he can get it down to the 4.4s. But yeah from a talent stand point, he could be 1 of the better RBs in the draft.

Hill only caught 26 passes over 2 years, I wouldn't call him a receiver out of the backfield.

RB

Mason
Hill
Hyde
Wilder
Crowell

- I think Wilder is a little underrated as a pass catcher, plus he's got some size. Runs with power.

QB

Manziel
Bridgewater
Bortles
Mett
Renner

I like Renner but since he's had some injury problems, there really isn't much talk about him.

I've seen where McCarron is going in the 2nd round in some mock drafts and I don't get it. He was a successful college QB but I don't think he'll cut it in the pros. He doesn't really have a lot of zip on his throws and is awful under pressure in the pocket. But since Alabama had a highly effective run game while he was there, he had a lot of play action passes where he could sit back and have his way. But when he did have pressure on him... he wasn't very good at improvising.

WR
Watkins
Evans
Matthews
Landry
Latimer/Cooks/Ellington

LSU didnt involve the RB out of the backfield at all.

That said, during the combine LT, Faulk, and the analysts all pretty much agreed Hill was the most comfortable catching the ball, ran good precise routes, caught it really well, and looked the best in the drills.

Just because LSU doesnt involve the RB in the passing game doesnt mean Hill isnt good at it. And I think he was the 3rd leading receiver on the team...

As far as Wilder goes, I just dont like him at all. He has a boat load of talent, but it never really translated to the field for some reason. And he didnt get that much work at all in college. Was in trouble multiple times. In fact he was arrested last weekend, again. Been in trouble like 5x since hes been at FSU. And just was a huge disappointment.

He has the size and def looks the part. But just isnt good. Runs upright and has a long torso. And is just very very stiff. Not a fluid player at all. His cuts are choppy and he has to cut, turn, start up and get going. Not a smooth player at all. And he ran a 4.86 at the combine. Thats horrible. Also injury prone. He looks like he would be a monster. But he just doesnt have it.

injuries plus he had to compete with Freeman. I just feel like he's a solid power back. Might have been used more in the passing game if he didn't have to split time with other backs?

he doesn't seem to get much criticism with his blocking that I can find either.

I guess its just something where I see that he could be a real bad arse. He's got good balance for a big guy but like you said doesn't always run that low. He takes longer strides because he's bigger and isn't very elusive.... but I like the power.

Literally the only good thing quality he has is his power.

But, hes a power back that is injury prone. Not a good combination. And his NFL Combine page says he could stand to improve as a blocker. Hes not a top 5 RB. Hes not even a top 10 RB in this draft.

And arrested 4 times in 26 months. Hes an UDFA.

right... but I like him.

if everyone is going to have a lot of the same names on their list, you need someone like me to come on here and say something stupid.
