Depends on whose definition of valid you want to side with. Have I seen a piece of paper designated a contract? No. No doubt his grandfather and father had some kind of written contract with some branch of government. If that were produced I'd think it would clear up a few things.

Like I've said before, my bitch is not about who is right or wrong in this situation. The show of force of 200 well armed government agents was just flat out wrong by whoever ordered it.

Lastly, it's not over by a longshot. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bundy go down in a hail of bullets. The government is not going to take lightly that they had their arse handed to them in round one.

No it wouldn't because the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934 voided any and all grazing contracts and rights.
