So what about Black Widow and Hawkeye being part of the Avengers? Is that basically the same thing? I know I was asking myself "why in the hell do they need those two to stop an alien invasion" what I watched the Avengers movie.

According to this board, Batman can beat Thanos, Darkseid, Apocalypse, Superman, Hulk, Flash, Goku, Jesus, and Chuck Norris at the same time without breaking a sweat as long as he has enough time to prepare.

Uh the Avengers did a pretty good job showing a team using everyone's powers/skills effectively.
Hawkeye was necessary to call the shots, Widow was necessary to kill and keep the fight focused.
I mean it wasn't perfect, but it was certainly enough of a reason.

Honestly I didn't care for Hawkeye and Black Widow next to the more powerful characters like the Hulk, Iron Man and Thor either.
I'm plus minus on even Captain America in the same movie as characters with more unrealistic super powers.

I dont think batman was ever supposed to have powers. He's in the mix nowadays hanging with super human beings because he is a great character and has lasted the text of time.
but he'd get his arse whipped.

I think having BW shooting the aliens with handguns, and Hawkeye shooting them with arrows basically neutered the aliens. The aliens were supposed to be some cosmic force, yet handguns and arrows could take them out? That didn't really work for me.
Don't get me wrong, I still liked the movie a lot. I just thought that aspect of it was goofy

I agree. Take for example a famous moment in advertising:
I'm with you on this one. Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are the proverbial tits on a boar. I don't buy that even Captain America is needed to bark out orders either - to a genius like Iron Man and a God like Thor? Really? Really?
