First off, yes I was speeding not arguing that.

So I went to pay the fine online, $214 total. Of that, $85 was for speeding. The rest consists of shite like: $12 for building/security, $5 to the spinal cord injury fund, $45 to the indigent defender fund, $10 off duty off fund.

What the frick is all this shite!?

Sure the ticket is only $214, but it will likely bump your car insurance up 20-40 bucks per month for the next 5 years... I'd call and try to take a class instead to keep it off your record.

Should have used a court appointed attorney, you are already paying for him.

Don't bitch about the fine if you commit the crime.

I got a ticket on the Basin Bridge...Called to find out the total, $265.45...70% of it going directly into the St. Martin Parish DA's pocket.

Got my lawyer to write a letter. Got it thrown out.

Don't speed and then none of this is even an issue.

The worst part is that 90% of the LEO's out there disregard the speed limit completely.

I was passed by a LA state trooper on a motor cycle Sunday. He was going 90 MPH. After he passed me I matched his speed just to see how fast he was going.

If the speed limits are meaningless, which apparently they are due to the fact that the LEO's don't even obey them, then it must just be a revenue scheme.

Did you calmly explain that you were heading to the hospital for a surgery?

Regardless, just bring the paperwork from the surgery to the DA and get that shite dropped or reduced, at least. Easy fix.

Speeding on the causeway is a breeze. Slow down for the crossovers if you see a vehicle there, and hug the right lane in case there's a sneaky po-po creeping up the left lane.

Public defender office is financed largely by traffic tickets. It's controversial but it's how it is.

The DA and sheriffs usually take a big cut too.
