Didn't you start this thread like a week ago or was that someone else? Anyways, just sell it on CL and then buy an iphone that works on t-mobile from someone else. The net cost to you should be $0.

like i said, i had a nexus sim tool and a thumbtack at my disposal.
since the thumbtack didnt work, i didnt think a paperclip would.
i found one and it did the trick..now i can't read the IMEI..its too tiny and my eyes are bad

Also, do you not have any friends with ATT? Just borrow one of their sim cards and activate the phone and pull the sim card. Phone will work fine without the sim card unless you install another iOS update which will make you have to activate again.
Someone most likely installed a firmware update when they cleaned the phone. So it was probably a jailbroken phone that they put back to regular iOS.

I don't know what you did, but my original iPhone and iPhone 4 both still work fine without the SIM.
