For those of you who missed it, and judging by the game thread it was most of you, Tyreke had a huge night 41 points 9 rebounds 8 assists 3 steals with 1 turnover and no fouls. But beyond the numbers he just dominated on a night when MVP candidate Kevin Durant disappeared. Tyreke also was coming off of a bone bruise in his knee and wasn't looking likely to play after limping through the morning shoot around.

quote:

“It was one of those nights where I felt like no one could stick me, nobody could guard me,” described Evans, who missed Saturday's loss at Houston due to injury. “I was finishing strong. The knee was sore, but I was fighting through it. Coach did a good job of getting the ball in my hands so I could operate in pick-and-rolls. When (the Thunder) helped (on defense), I was finding open guys.”

Here are a few highlight videos, nothing super spectacular, just Tyreke doing his thing of making it look easy getting to the rim at will.

Scary that 25 pts qualifies as disappearing for KD. I did barely notice him out there though.

1-7 from 3. The guy had a hell of a night, though. I thought we were done when Rivers got ejected, but the guys got it done. Evans was a big part of that. He has definitely made Gordon expendable. Now, more than ever, they need to find a way to turn Gordon into a long wing with a stroke from deep.

At least 2 of those were hot potato 3s (got the ball dumped on him with no time on the clock) and another 1 was a half court heave at the end of a quarter.

In my mind it was never a debate after he got over the hump earlier in the season. Gordon can put points on the board, but Tyreke has the ability to dominate games. Gordon quietly scores points, Tyreke breaks defenses.

I was looking at that gif for a good 5 seconds, focused on the ball, trying to figure out exactly you were talking about.

I wish I could have seen ShamelessPel's reaction to that sequence.

also, Reke's shooting chart last night is just fricking ridiculous for a 41 point game. looks like a Shaq all-star game shooting chart

My reaction wasn't that crazy until he got kicked out to be honest (even then, it was more, "Dammit Austin, I finally get to see you start, and you get booted."). I'm used to Rivers not taking crap by now. He's gotten into it with Teague/Jennings/Reggie Evans and the other 4 Kings (sticking up for AD)/ and now Nick Collison this season. I think he deserved to get ejected watching the replays. He took it a little too far even though it was a pretty cheap play by Collison.

I don't care about it honestly. Same with JSmoove. Don't back down. Teams need players like that. You can't tell people like that to calm down cause that fire and competitiveness is what fuels them. It's not really surprising considering Austin spent his whole life around NBA players.

On a side note: I was actually thrilled he got kicked by the game's end. If he doesn't get kicked, we don't see Tyreke go all over the Thunder.

He needs to learn that what you do to not get ejected is just body up to them and get in their face and make a scene. "You want to push me now when my back isn't turned you big bitch?" That way you don't get ejected and you make the officials start watching the other guy much closer, and if you're lucky you goad him into pushing you and getting thrown out.

Last night only re-affirmed: A) We absolutely have to get rid of Gordon. B) We absolutely need Monty to grow up or ship out.

People like Roberts/Aminu/Steimsma shouldn't be on the floor AT ALL. All of a sudden, they don't play much and the vastly underrated bench steps up for the 2nd night in a row vs a very good team.

Dell's collection of talent is pretty crazy. Let's figure out a way to jettison Gordon (even if it's a negotiated buyout), keep Morrow/Rivers and say goodbye to the aforementioned 3 players (1 down).

What Tyreke did last night was silly. Bum knee and he has a career night. He's also showing to be more than a capable defender.

I was happy to hear Monty say Tyreke had a "Magic Johnson night". It makes me hope he has a better handle on how to use Tyreke.

Demps really needs to avoid the end of bench veterans. Would Brian Roberts win you more games than Pierre Jackson? Probably, but the real question to ask is would Austin Rivers win you more games than Brian Roberts. AR + PJ > BRob + AR as the 4th and 5th guards.

I love when he steals the ball or gets a rebound. Running when you get the ball seems like it should be a simple thing everyone can do, but I guess Tyreke is the only one that knows he can get to the rim even if the defense gets back.

the small forward market is pretty small this off season. if we get rid of Gordon, I hope we make a run at Hayward or maybe CJ Miles.

there are a few centers out there (Monroe, Hawes, Gortat) we can definitely look at as well. hopefully Dell will do something

Last night was the first incident where he's taken it to that level, so it's not a cause for worry yet. In the Evans situation he did exactly what you said.

I can't wait for next year having Evans/Holiday/Davis/Ryno back again. A bench of Rivers/Morrow/Babbitt/Withey/Ajinca is pretty formidable as we've seen. I'd keep using Evans as the PG honestly and let Jrue slide to SG. He's just too damn nasty at driving into the lane and kicking out after drawing defenders or finding AD on the PnR. Evans with the right pieces has shown to be a damn bargain while putting the wrong pieces with him shows just how disastrous it can be.

Miller is a bit of a wild card. I have no idea how he's sat so long on the bench this year, but he could be a cheap 3 n D and allow us to go get a big/resign Morrow. We will see.
