I like tDB, Lotus, the New Deal,etc..

I do tend to prefer rock or funk

Speaking of- where are the funk bands? I see Lettuce but what about Greyboy Allstars, Dumpstaphunk, funky Meters, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe?

Also missing Medeski Martin (Scofield) and Wood

According to TreyAnastasio, it's because they are making a following along the Rib Cook Off circuit. Rib foodies are really good with Social Media. Really helps spread the fire

So is this whole tier system just based on their following?

No

moe is much more laid back than Umphrey's. I like moe much more than Umphreys but neither deserve II.

it's an alogarithm I formed based on the following, popularity, nostalgia, originality, improvisation, jam quality/length, and individual talent.

I've never seen moe. nor do I listen to their music really. They formed in 1989 and were really the only jam band worth a shite in the 90s other than phish. I've heard that their 90s catalog of music is really good.

Bela Fleck is really high. I respect them and everything, but who actually listens to that stuff?

I do, but I don't think that I would consider them a "jam band." Maybe I just don't know what a jam band is. They are jazz with world music and blue grass influences.
