The only time it gives me problems is with a heavy premier of a show. 2 days later I watched GOT with now lag. But it was 2 days later... I wonder if it will do this every episode. For some reason I don't remember it being this bad past year.

It's terrible. I've been trying to get caught up on GoT before the new season starts but HBO GO is laggy as hell and completely unwatchable at times. Pirate sites have better streaming performance than this crap.

Sometimes it freaks out on me with Apple TV. I just hit Menu and Play again really quickly, sometimes more than once, until it works.

the ratings on the app store are usually bad b/c people get pissed they need subscriptions to cable to use it.

It works for me at home. Craps out half of the time that I try to use it on my phone outside of the home.

I've never had issues. Just watched all of Game of Thrones - sometimes on my mac, sometimes using my iPhone, and other times on my apple TV - No problems at all.

I've had issues before with it on my Apple TV. I always end up just unplugging the thing then it will work fine after that.
I also didnt do the available update for my Apple TV for a long time. Ever since I did it though I haven't had issues.
