I had the same exact situation, and did this late Feb/early March. My St. Aug grass is really looking good now, but I wish we'd get some damn rain.... You should either do this now (like this weekend) and expect to water it a lot, or just wait until fall.

Edit: It's hard work, but it's not awful. I like yard work, though. Most people hate it, and cringed when I told them I was tilling up my entire back yard and laying 3,000 sf of sod. Very rewarding now that it's greening up nicely.

I don't mind the work just need to know where to start. Tested the soil and ph was exactly 7. If I go the kill and start over method, how would you do it?
